City Deal status was introduced by the Government as a way of harnessing the economic growth potential of key cities. The Preston, South Ribble and Lancashire City Deal was signed in September 2013.
Investment of £434 million is helping expand transport infrastructure, create 20,000 new jobs and generate more than 17,000 new homes over the next ten years.
Central Lancashire sits at the heart of the £23bn Lancashire economy, supporting more than 620,000 jobs in 45,000 businesses. This key economic area is at the heart of the county’s growing confidence.
The Lancashire Enterprise Partnership, Lancashire County Council, Preston City Council, South Ribble Borough Council and Homes England are working together to deliver the City Deal programme, including a £100m pension investment fund.
