The development could also attract other well-known national retailers, major employers, restaurants, offices and housing, along with cycling and walking routes and new green spaces, subject to planning permission.
County Councillor Jennifer Mein, Leader of Lancashire County Council, said: “As we announced on Friday last week, this is a very exciting potential development but we need to make absolutely sure that we get the planning application right.
“I’d urge local people to get down to one of the consultation events, which start on Thursday 17 November, or look at the plans on the website – www.thisiscuerden.co.uk – which will also go live on Thursday. We are planning to submit the planning application before the end of the year and by getting involved in the consultation local people and businesses can help us identify and address any potential issues and make sure that the application is as good as it can be.”
