Through their Private Business Programmes, the county council supports businesses to recruit talented young people. The programmes include work trials with placements lasting up to eight weeks, at no cost to the company.
The county council also works with young people aged 16-24 who are looking for paid employment, including apprentices and graduates. It has already supported more than 1,500 young people into work placements and full-time employment in the public and private sectors.
Jennifer Mein, leader of Lancashire County Council, said: “We work with each person to understand their career aspirations, and invest time with each company to gain an insight into their business requirements, ethos and culture.
“As ambassadors for the National Apprenticeship Service, we are committed to supporting Lancashire’s young people to succeed in their career aspirations.
“We want to provide opportunities for unemployed young people to show their abilities to businesses, in the hope of finding a job at the end of their placement. These vary from college leavers to graduates, so almost any type of business and job opportunity can be catered for.
“We can support your company throughout the process, giving you the opportunity to trial a candidate for up to eight weeks at no cost to your company.”
