The Lancashire Aerospace Task Force
In the early stages of the pandemic, the Lancashire Enterprise Partnership’s Manufacturing Group took the decision to undertake a deep dive into the aerospace sector when it became clear that the industry was experiencing difficulties due to the impact of Covid-19. As a result the Lancashire Aerospace Task Force was convened comprised wholly of senior business leaders operating within the sector in Lancashire.
The Lancashire Aerospace Recovery Plan
The work of the Task Force has comprised a number of roundtable discussions as well as 1-2-1 interviews with members to discuss in more detail areas of particular concern.
The culmination of this work has resulted in the production of a Lancashire Aerospace Recovery Plan.
The Recovery Plan identifies 15 possible interventions over the short, medium and longer term, and assesses three different scenarios the sector may face, depending on the duration of travel restrictions and quarantine rules.
The interventions contained within the Recovery Plan are based on solid evidence, provided and validated by industry. Validation by business leaders currently working within the industry means that when we are speaking with government and working with partners to look at implementing the recommendations of the Recovery Plan, we can be confident that the support we are able to offer is what the sector actually requires.
To secure Lancashire’s future sustainability within this field, we need to take a collaborative and inclusive approach to supporting the sector. The Lancashire Enterprise Partnership will work with key partners and stakeholders to support and help with the implementation of the Lancashire Aerospace Recovery Plan so that together we are able to retain Lancashire’s leading capabilities in aerospace.
