The Lancashire Digital Skills Partnership, alongside its six fellow DSPs across the country, has teamed up with Google Digital Garage to deliver a series of weekly sessions in March providing practical digital advice for small businesses, charities and individuals.

The seven DSP Coordinators came together to share local insight for their areas and agreed a programme of useful webinars that address common local needs or fill regional gaps.

Lancashire DSP Coordinator, Kerry Harrison said:

“We’re delighted to once again partner with the team at Google Digital Garage, in order to provide advice and support to small businesses and charities across Lancashire. We continue to strive to work with local and national partners to bring a range of opportunities for all Lancashire residents to continue to develop their digital skills.”

Dr Michele Lawty-Jones, Director of the Lancashire Skills and Employment Hub, commented:

“We are excited to be working in partnership with the Department for Digital, Media, Culture and Sport (DCMS), local Digital Skills Partnerships in partner regions and Google to bring high quality digital training to our smaller businesses, charities and third sector in Lancashire.  The pandemic has accelerated the need for every business to refine their digital skills, and use digital tools effectively to improve their digital footprint.”

The first five hour-long sessions will kick off on the 3rd March at 11am with a webinar on Setting Up and Growing Your Charity Online. The following four sessions will comprise:

  • Getting Your Business Visible on Google – 10thMarch, 11am
  • Improve Your Digital Marketing Strategy – 17thMarch, 11am
  • Setting Up Your Online Shop – 24thMarch, 11am
  • Using Google Analytics – 31stMarch, 11am

Those interested in attending can register through Eventbrite at https://digitalskillspartnerships.eventbrite.co.uk.

In 2019, Google Digital Garage training supported over 750 local SMEs across Lancashire with consistently good feedback from participants. We hope this series of training throughout 2021 can provide additional support not only for our local SMEs but also to third sector organisations who do such an important job in Lancashire.

This new series of webinars with Google Digital Garage is tailored to help businesses and charities, operating in an increasingly digital economy due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Some of the later seven sessions to follow will address skills relating to productive and optimisation for remote working and sessions for those seeking employment such as building a CV and cover letter.
