Hotter is the UK’s biggest shoe manufacturer with stores across the country, a growing overseas presence and over a million customers around the world.

The award-winning company, which has its HQ in Skelmersdale, employs over 1,300 people across the UK and makes a pair of shoes every 20 seconds.

The Hotter Comfort Concept brand was founded in the early 1990s by Beaconsfield Footwear.

Hotter founder Stewart Houlgrave’s parents had set up Beaconsfield Footwear as a slipper manufacturer in 1959.

Mr Houlgrave introduced the Hotter brand with the aim of making stylish, high quality and ultra comfortable shoes for women and men featuring a range of hidden comfort features. The company has since gone from strength to strength.

It is now a multi-channel retailer, selling shoes and accessories online, by direct mail and through more than 75 stores nationwide.

Last year it won a Queen’s Award for Enterprise for International Trade after growing export earnings by an outstanding 123 per cent in the previous three years as it developed the Hotter brand in markets such as the USA, the Middle East, and South Africa.
